Assembly: Hour of Honor

Artists give us the great rivers and mountains of our motherland depicted on the most beautiful picture scrolls; poets share with us the eternal spring of our motherland in the most touching of poems. It is in this spirit that the teachers and students of the International Department of Baishan School plan the "Hour of Honor" Assembly. The assembly is their way of presenting their gifts to the motherland!

On September 25th, the first "Hour of Honor" Assembly of the semester opened to bright sunshine streaming through the auditorium windows. Dr. Brown, our vice principal for foreign teachers opened the assembly with a welcome speech.  He noted that the monthly assembly is our way of celebrating the growth, development, and achievements of our students. 

Immediately after Dr. Brown's warm welcome, the students themselves took to the stage to honor each other for achievements and good citizenship witnessed during the school days of the previous months. Then, the audience was treated to presentations and performances by each grade level, enriching each student's English speaking and listening abilities. This month's assembly included our primary students, singing nursery rhymes and displaying projects from the Grade 2 trans-disciplinary units of study, as well as our secondary students putting on a play.

All the students gave wonderful performances and impressed the audience deeply. We are looking forward to more "Hour of Honor" assemblies to celebrate all of the honors yet to come.

The International Department of Baishan School will continue to encourage our students to cultivate internationalized talents imbued with Chinese spirit and respect for the world.
