Admissions Policy

Baishan International Department is where rich tradition meets an innovative future.

We dedicated to nurturing academic excellence, creativity, discovery, and compassion within students. We look for students who are bold in their thinking, determined in their actions, collaborative in their teamwork and expansive in their dreaming. By bringing together a group of broadly-talented students, we will help them to grow in intellectual, physical and cultural realms.

Entry Years

Students are encouraged to apply for Grade 1-3 and Grade 7-9, and will be considered if spaces become available from departing families. Families are encouraged to contact the admission office to see if we expect to have openings in the above Grades for this application season.

Eligibility Requirements

Chinese nationals and foreign passport holders are both eligible to apply to the Academy. While the majority of our students will be Chinese, we recognize the advantages of a diverse student body to enhance global understanding. Our Chinese students will gain greater international awareness through this diversity and our foreign nationals will come to understand and appreciate the culture and language of their host country.

Students applying to Grade 1 must be five or six years old respectively by August 31st of the entry year, in accordance with Chinese school requirements. Applicants to Grade 1 are not expected to have a particular skill level in English.

Applicants who enter International Department after Grade 1 will need to exhibit an appropriate level of competence in English and Chinese in order to transition into the relevant grade of our bilingual immersion curriculum.

Admission Decisions

If we do not offer admission to a student, it will be either because we do not feel our program is a good fit for the child, or because we do not have enough spaces in the class to accommodate all of our qualified applicants. In that case, we encourage families to apply again for a future admission year.

While our website offers a glimpse into the life and learning at International Department, we encourage you to visit our campus, which will give you a stronger sense of our vibrant community.

We look forward to meeting you.
