Our Vision for Learning

Baishan International Education has an eight-point vision for learning developed from best practices and our experience of decades of successful international education. These values allow our K-12 international education students to move from local to increasingly complex global understandings and perspectives while taking action and serving communities by being the change they want to see in the world. These values help support the ICA Personal and International learning goals and the IB learner profile.
Courageous - We approach uncertainty with forethought and the determination to invest in exploring new physical, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual challenges. We embrace these challenges because they are opportunities to work independently or collaborate with others to develop our resourcefulness, determination and resilience.
Respectful - We collaborate with others in constructive and resourceful ways to reach our goals successfully and we show leadership by promoting and inspiring agency in others, and we take action and advocate to ensure we reduce our impact on the environment. We learn to be considerate of an individual's wishes, cultural norms, human rights, and dignity.
Empathetic - We consider the well-being of others when taking action and respond appropriately to support the feelings and emotions of others. By doing this we develop insights into how other people live their lives and we show care through empathy and compassion.
Adaptable - We approach learning with a compassionate open heart and explore roles, ideas, and concepts with an open mind. We learn strategies to self-regulate our personal feelings and respond appropriately to the feelings of others. We reflect upon new learning and re-evaluate our current values, ideas, and opinions based on new knowledge.
Tenacious - We develop growth mindsets by embracing and enjoying challenges and learning from feedback and reflection. We believe that intelligence and talent can be developed if we persist when unsuccessful, ask for help and support when we need it, learn from both success and failure, and take the time necessary to develop competence and mastery.
Inquisitive - We nurture our curiosity and learn to work both independently and collaboratively. We explore how we learn best and seek out a wide-range of interesting challenges and experiences to sustain and nurture ourselves as life-long learners.
Visionaries - We engage with complex problems and use our ingenuity to develop solutions that transform adversity into opportunity, creativity, resilience and innovation. We envisage a hopeful future where we can live in harmony with others in peace, friendship, and security.
Ethical - We develop a personal value system and understand that we should act with integrity, honesty and a strong sense of fairness. We learn to be knowledgeable and astute about how to evaluate choices and decide on the most appropriate actions in any situation. We take responsibility for our actions and their consequences.
