The Experience Class Of Studying In America

The studying aboard program of sixth grade students in Baishan School

 

After entering the sixth grade, those who are going to study in America will form a new class with the objective of appropriate increasing the relevant topic subjects and prepare for the following trips to Americain the second semester.


A) Baishan School strengthens students' English listening and speaking skills, introduces American culture, local history, campus conditions and living environmentin the United States. A series of preparatory and previewing courses are conducted for the sixth grade of American.


B) The program will adjust the class hours and schedule of the major Chinese subjects in the first semester, in order to be able to fully participate in the learning and activities of the schools in the United States and meet the teaching objectives of the key subjects inthe sixth grade.


C) The implementation of the plan includes the cultivation of self-care ability, psychological counseling and physical fitness.


The plan of the first semester in the year of 2017 and 2018



Ⅰ Morning reading in pure English (from week two)


1. Time plan: 15 minutes per time, 3 times per week, 18 weeks per semester


2. Learning style: talk about 20 topics in English


3. Learning content: [Annex I]


4. Executives: head teachers, English teachers, foreign teachers


5. Parents are suggested to supervise and guide students to express topics in English by collecting information in extra-curricular time.



Ⅱ English reading (intensive reading, extensive reading) and writing (reading starts from the first week and writing starts from the second week)


1. Time plan: 2-3 hours per week, 18 weeks per semester


2. Learning style: intensive reading and extracurricular online reading and writing


3. Learning content: [Annex II]


4. Executives: English teachers


5. Parents are hoped to supervise students in finishing extensive reading for half an hour at home each day and sign the Reading Journal.



Ⅲ The preview of the subject vocabulary (begins fromweek two)


1. Time plan: 5 hours per week, 18 weeks per semester


2. Learning style: The school compiles 30 to 50 commonly used Englishwords for students to preview.In addition to specialized learning, teachers may also use English vocabulary of different subjects in mathematics teaching and the teaching of foreign teachers. Students are asked to exercise the reading and writing of vocabulary afterclass.


3. Learning content: It includesthe commonly used 30 to 50 words of mathematics, society and scientific English.


4. Executives: Mathematics teachers, English teachers, foreign teachers.


5. Parents are advised to supervise students to review and sign the home-school manual.



Ⅳ Culture differences, common senses of life and behaviors (begins from week one)


1. Time plan: threetheme lectures per semester and the daily development of habits and behaviors


2. Learning style: three theme lectures, introduce and guide students at any time according to daily activities

4. Executives: experts, head teachers, teachers of each subject, foreign teachers


5. Parents are asked to concernabout the behaviors of students in life, correctly understanding of the differences between Chinese culture and Western one and to correct the bad habits of students according to the requirements of school.



Ⅴ Self-reliance and self-care ability (begins from week one)


1. Time plan: the daily cultivation of habits and behaviors


2. Learning style: Through a week of "Campus Growth Camp", students’self-care ability is promoted.Students are taught and guided in daily activities.

4. Executives: head teachers, life teachers


5. Parents are asked to concernabout the behaviors of students in life, correctly understanding of the differences between Chinese culture and Western one and to correct the bad habits of students according to the requirements of school.



Ⅵ Physical training (begins from week one)


1. Time plan: 3 hours per week, 18 weeks per semester.


2. Learning style: enhancing physical training in P.E class.

4. Executives: P.E teachers.



Ⅶ Psychological counseling (begins from week two)


1. Time plan: 4 hours per semester


2. Learning style: seminar and interaction


3. Learning content: emotional management, time management, self-management[Annex VI]


4. Executive: psychological teachers


5. Parents are asked to supervise and consciously observe the changes of students in life, and timely feedback on home school manuals. Psychological teachers check it and do two-way interaction.



In order to put short-termabroad studying into effect, the above programs are required tobe accomplished by close cooperation and interaction of head teachers, teachers of each subjects, foreign teachers, life teachers and parents.
